Standard amounts of five different insecticides are found to kill 35%, 45%, 85%, 65% and 90% respectively of a fixed size of insect population. If one of the insecticides is chosen at random, what is the probability that it will kill:
a) at least 65% of the insect population?

b) at least 45% of the insect population?

c) between 40% and 80% of the insect population?

d) If two of the insecticides are chosen at random, what is the probability that any one of the pair chosen will kill at least 85% of the insect population?

P(≥ 65%) = 3/5
P(≥ 45%) = 4/5
P(40%-80%) = 2/5
If two of the insecticides are chosen at random
P(anyone of the pair ≥ 85) = 1-not chosen = 1- = 1-6/20 = 14/20 = 7/10
