Question 574154: Paul's Pizza sells 6-inch pizzas. Below is the menu:
Deluxe = $9.99
Sausage = $5.99
Mushroom = $5.50
Cheese = $4.99
Taking into account that $1.00 is charged on each additional topping, is it a better deal to buy the deluxe pizza or to buy a cheese pizza with 2 additional toppings? What is the price per square inch of the better deal? (Use 3.14 for π. The size of the pizza is its diameter.)
My answer = Deluxe pizza; $0.09

Answer by richard1234(7193)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Deluxe 6-inch pizza = 9.99

Two-topping pizza = 4.99 + 2.00 = 6.99

Given that they're both 6-inch pizzas, how does the deluxe pizza have a cheaper price-per-inch? Find the area of a 6-inch pizza (use radius = 3 in), then find the price-per-inch for each pizza.
