Question 557004: I did a science experiment and found the average distance of a particular item launched off a ramp on top of a table. Now I have to find the average velocity. The average distance traveled that I came up with is 35.5 inches from the table and the table height is 31 inches. I'm using the following equation to determine the average velocity: R= velocity√ 2H/g. Where velocity =R√2H/g. R=35.5, g=9.8m/s�, H=31inches. Thanks for your assistance. If you do provide the answer I really need to understand how it is done.

I'm using the following equation to determine the average velocity:
R= velocity√ 2H/g. Where velocity = R√2H/g.
R=35.5, g=9.8m/s�, H=31inches.

Velocity = 35.5/sqrt[2*31/9.8]

= 35.5/sqrt[62/9.8]
= 35.5/sqrt[6.3265]
= 35.5/2.5153
= 14.11 in/s^2
