Question 54456: Your mother is taking you to the store; she gives you the following choices: You may go to either: Walmart, Target or Meijer. You may buy either a DVD or a CD. After we are finished we can go out to eat at either: Olive Garden, Pot Belly Sandwich Works, or Don Pablo's. Draw a tree diagram of all the possible outcomes. How many possible outcomes are there?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3*2*4=24 branches on the tree
Take a sheet of paper.
Put 1, 2, 3, 4 across the top
Half-way down the paper put the word, START
Draw 3 branches from Start labeled Walmart, Target, Meijier
Put Walmart toward the top of the page, Target half-way down, Meijier
toward the bottom. Line these up under the "2" at the top of the page.
From each of these stores put two branches labeled CD and DVD.
Line these up under the "3" at the top of the page.
From each of CD and DVD put four branches for the eating places.
Line these up under the number 4 at the top of the page.
Count to see that you have 24 branches.
Cheers,
Stan H.
