1.A confidence interval is an interval estimate of which: a population parameter or a sample statistic? Please explain.

2. Consider a sample mean xbar of 46 calculated from a sample of size 35 drawn from a population of over 1000.
Would it be appropriate to use the standard score table to look up the probability of a z score calculated on these data?

is to develop a confidence statement for the population mean
or the population proportion, or some other population parameter.

Textbooks vary in answering questions of this type. The current thinking
is that the t-distribution should be used to test the population mean.
I would suggest you carefully read the testing conditions in your text.
