Question 482179: Solve the linear system: 5x+y=61
y=3x-35
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5 x + 1 y = 61 .............1
-3 x + 1 y = -35 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by 1
Multiply (2) by -1
5 x + 1 y = 61
3 x + -1 y = 35
Add the two equations
8 x = 96
/ 8
x = 12
plug value of x in (1)
5 x + 1 y = 61
60 + 1 y = 61
1 y = 61 -60
1 y = 1
y = 1
