The probability that A and B will pick the same number is 1/1000.
Note that P(B > A) is the same as P(A > B), by symmetry. Hence, the probability that A and B will obtain unequal numbers is 999/1000, and we divide by two since each case has an equal probability of happening. So the probability of B getting a greater number than A is 999/2000.
