Question 472133: The length x of the nails in a large shipment received by a carpenter are approximately normal with a mean of 2 inches and a standard deviation of .1 inches.
1) If a nail is randomly selected, find P (1.8 < x< 2.07)
2) The carpenter cannot use a nail shorter than 1.75 inches or longer than 2.25 inches. What percentage of the shipment of nails will the carpenter be able to use?

Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1)z=(1.8-2.0)/.1=-.2/.1=-2
z=(2.07-2.0)/.1=.07/.1=.7
The area under the normal curve between -2 and .7 is 0.735
