you have 10 coins in your pocket 4 quarters 3 nickels 3 dimes you reach into your pocket and pick out a coin to tip the waitress calculate the expected value of the tip in cents.

The "expected" tip, would be the one with the highest probability of being drawn out. In other words, the type that there is the most of, in the pocket.

25 cents would be the expected tip, because it has the highest probability of being drawn out.
