Question 429823: Let X and Y both be discrete uniform random variables on {0, 1, 2, 3, 4}.
Let Z = |X-Y|. Find the PMF of Z.
Please Help...

Answer by robertb(5830)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Make a "subtraction" table for X and Y, and then take the absolute values. You'll find out that
p(0) = 5/25
p(1) = 8/25
p(2) = 6/25
p(3) = 4/25
p(4) = 2/25
