My answer: I would guess with over 50% of the of the sample affirming their vote for my csndidate that the probability of the full population voting for my candidate is very high. However, I don't how to calculate the 95% confidence
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In a random sample of 1100 likely voters 572 said they would vote for your candidate. what is your hunch? Would you claim 95% confidence that your candidte will receive the majority of the votes?
------
572/1100 = 52%
------
E = 1.96*sqrt[0.52*0.48/1100] = 0.0295
----
95% CI: 0.52-0.0295 < p < 0.52+0.0295
-----
95% CI: 0.4905 < p < 0.5495
=====================================
I'll leave the hunching to you.
cheers,
Stan H.
