Relationship between p-value and critical regions?
----
Right-tail test p-value.
-
If the critical region is a right tail with
area = alpha, then the p-value is the right
tail of the test statistic.
If p-value < alpha, reject Ho.
If p-value > alpha, fail to reject Ho.
-----
Similarly for a Left-tail test.
-----
For a 2-tail test.
Alpha is split evenly between a left tail
and a right tail.
The p-value may have a left tail or a right tail.
If 2*tail of test stat is < alpha, reject Ho.
If 2*tail of test stat is > alpha, fail to reject Ho.
