Hi, Noted: 8 boxes sold on 2nd day
Let x represent the total number of boxes of cookies
1st day sold (2/5)x OR .4x
2nd day sold 8
question states***sold 45% of boxes the first two days
.45x = .4x + 8
solving for x
.05x = 8
x = 8/.05
x = 160 boxes, the total number of boxes of cookies
55 % are left, there are .55*160 = 88 boxes left to sell
