There are 15 books on the summer reading list. Three of them are plays, one is poetry, and the rest are novels. what is the probability that you will choose 2 novels and a play in that order if you choose the books a t random?

First of all, we know that there are 3 plays, 1 poetry and 11 novels (since there are 15 books).
Now, what's the probability of picking a novel in the first place? Since 11 out of the 15 books are novels, this probability is 11/15.
Given that we took the novel, now we have 14 books left, 10 of which are novels. The probability of drawing a novel now is then 10/14.
Finally, after you took the second novel, you're left with 13 books, 3 of which are plays. Therefore, the probability of picking a play in the 3rd place is 3/13.
We conclude that the probability of picking a novel, a novel and a play (in that order) is simply the product of the 3 probabilities:

So the probability you're looking for is 0.1208.
