A drawer is filled with blue, gray, and white socks. The probability that a sock selected at random from the drawer is gray is 1/2 and the probability that the sock is white is 1/6 If all of the blue socks are removed from the drawer, what is the probability of selecting a white sock at random?
-----------------------------
Original probability of white is 1-[1/2 + 1/6] = 1/3
Note: If there were originally 6 socks in the drawer, there would be
1 white, 3 gray, and 2 blue.
If the 2 blue were removed there would be 4 socks remaining.
Since there would still be 1 white, the probability of white would be 1/4.
