Question 322989: please help...i tried to work the problem with the formula given
z=value-mean/standard deviation
According to a survey conducted by television advertisers, the average adult American watches an average of 6.98 hours of television per day. The data is normally distributed with a standard devieation of 3.80 hours. Find the probability that a randomly selected person watches more than 8.00 hours of television a day.

work the problem with the formula given
z=value-mean/standard deviation
According to a survey conducted by television advertisers, the average adult American watches an average of 6.98 hours of television per day. The data is normally distributed with a standard devieation of 3.80 hours. Find the probability that a randomly selected person watches more than 8.00 hours of television a day.
8.00-6.98/3.80=6.163...is this correct?
---------------------
Note: Your Formula is wrong; you always need parentheses in the numerator.
It should be z-value = (value-mean)/standard deviation
-----
z(8) = (8-6.93)/3.8 = 1.02/3.8 = 0.2684
