A group of files in a medical clinic classifies the patients by gender and by the type of diabetes ( 1 or 2). below is the number in each classification.
type 1 type 2 Totals
male 42 21 63
female 49 28 77
Totals 91 49 140
-------------------------------------------------
Find the probability that the selected individual is a female and type 2?
P(f and II) = 28/140 = = 1/5
Is the answer 1/5 ; yes
---------------------------------------
Find the probability that the selected individual is a male and type 1? Is the answer 3/10 : yes
P(m and I) = 42/140 = 3/10
================================
Find the probability that the individual gets type 1 knowing that the individual is a male?
P(I | male) = P(I and male)/P(male) = 42/140/91/140 = 42/91
=============================
