Question 308151: "A true-false test contains 10 questions. In how many ways can a student answer the questions if some questions may be left unanswered?"
I know that the number of answer combinations when answering each question is 2^10 = 1,024. I just am not sure how to incorporate the student not answering some. And I'm assuming that there is a possibility that the student will not answer any? The question is written exactly how I typed it. Thank you in advance!

not answering is a third possibility, so 3^10 instead of 2^10
