An ad claims " 1 in 7 will be hospitalzed this year." Suppose in a sample of 180 people and assuming the claim of ad correct what is the probability that fewer than 10% of people in the sample will be found to have been hospitalized (at least once) in the year?

Binomial Problem:
n = 180
10% of 180 is 18 people
p = 1/7
P(0<= x <=17) = ?
Using a TI calculator to find that probability
I get:
P(0<= x <=17) = binomcdf(180,1/7,17) = 0.0349

You may also find this probability using a cumulative
binomial table, EXCEL, or some on-line binomial probability
site. Try searching with Google for "binomial probability".
