Question 231998: please help me with this question it is very difficult. thanks
By measuring the amount of time it takes a component of a product to move from one workstation to the next, an engineer has estimated that the standard deviation is 2.6 seconds.
Answer each of the following (show all work):

(A) How many measurements should be made in order to be 95% certain that the maximum error of estimation will not exceed 0.5 seconds?

(B) What sample size is required for a maximum error of 1 second?

By measuring the amount of time it takes a component of a product to move from one workstation to the next, an engineer has estimated that the standard deviation is 2.6 seconds.
Answer each of the following (show all work):
---
Sample size formula:
n = [z*s/E]^2
(A) How many measurements should be made in order to be 95% certain that the maximum error of estimation will not exceed 0.5 seconds?
n = [1.96*2.6/0.5]^2 = 103.87..
Rounding up you get n = 104
------------------------------------------
(B) What sample size is required for a maximum error of 1 second?
n = [1.96*2.6/1]^2 = 25.96
Rounding up you get n = 26
