Question 199736: A certain type of seed has a probability of 0.8 of germinating. In a package of 100 seeds, what is the probability that at least 75% will germinate?
Answer by jerrybassmasta(14) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This problem can be done in many ways, ways that include both with and without a calculator.
Using a calculator multiply .8 by .75
The .75 represents the 75%
Your answer will be .6
Then multiply that by 100 and you get 60
60 seeds will be 75%
Without a calculator,
Multiply .8 by 100.
Just move the decimal places and you get 80.
Then divide it by 10 and you get 8.
Multiply that by 7 and you get 56.
Then add 4 to it for the 5%.
