Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1) Liza wants to take three travel books with her when she goes on vacation. In how many ways she can do this if she has ten travel books to choose from?
10C3 = (10*9*8)/(1*2*3) = 120
----------------------------------------------

2) A play has been written that requires a cast of three men. Seven men try out for the three roles. How many different casts are possible? (The roles are Mr. Atkins, Tom, and Officer Flannigan)
Choose one to be Atkins: 7 ways
Choose one to be Tom: 6 ways
Choose one to be Flannigan: 5 ways
---------------
Total ways: 7*6*5 = 210
-------------------------------------
Another way to work the problem:
# of ways to pick three men from the seven: 7C3 = 7*6*5/1*2*3 = 35
# of ways to assign the roles for the three you pick: 3*2*1 = 6
--------------
Total ways 35*6 = 210
-------------------------------------

3) From a class of 25 students, three are to be chosen to serve on the Homecoming Committe. In how many ways can this be done?
25C3 = 25*24*23/1*2*3 = 2300
-------------------------------------
4) In how many ways can u draw two queens from a standard deck of cards?
4C2 = 4*3/1*2 = 6
