A coin was flipped 60 times and came up heads 38 times. (a) At the .10 level of significance, is the coin biased toward heads? Show your decision rule and calculations. (b) Calculate "a" value and interpret it.
-----------------
Ho: p = 1/2
Ha: p > 1/2
-----------------
p-hat = 38/60 = 0.63
-------
Test Statistic: z(0.63-0.50)/sqrt[0.5*0.5/60] = 2.066
---
p-value: P(z > 2.066) = 0.0194
----
Conclusion: Since the p-value is less than 10%, reject
Ho. The test does not provide evidence that the coin
is fair toward heads.
