The next 4 could be all green
She then has to pick one more for a blue bean.
8+4+1=13 beans must be selected to ensure she has at least one of each color.

let's look at the "best case" __ she draws three jellybeans, one of each color

but; to ENSURE one of each color (even if she was blindfolded), we have to look at the "worst case"
__ she draws 8 of one color, 4 of another color, and finally; one of the third color
