: Can you help me with this problem?
I think i am on the right track but am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.
I am not sure on how to find the percentiles on problem # 80.
Suppose that the mean salary for your profession is $53,000 with a standard
deviation of $2,500. To what percentile does your salary of $57,000 correspond?
This is how i worked it out but i think i am missing a piece.
I took the mean which is $53,000 and subtracted $57,000 from it which
gave me a -$4000 and then divided it by the standard deviation which is
$2,500 which gave me -1.6. But now what do i do now to get the percent?
Any guidance you can provide would truly help. Thankyou

Answer by vleith(2983) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The salary is above the mean, so the z score you calculated should be a positive 1.6.
Then use this --> http://www.measuringusability.com/pcalcz.php
to figure out the answer.
See the second graph found here --> http://www.measuringusability.com/normal_curve.php and slide up to a z score of 1.6.
