Question 1187812: Out of 100 people sampled, 42 had kids. Based on this, construct a 90% confidence interval for the true population proportion of people with kids.
______< p < _______
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
half-interval for 90%CI is z(0.95)*sqrt(p*(1-p)/n)
=1.645*sqrt(.42*.58/100)=0.0812
=(0.34, 0.50) or can do more decimal places
.42 is your point estimate, your best guess.
Use calculator 2nd VARS 1-proportion interval with 42 100 90% CI to get the same answer.
