If you roll a pair of two dice, then the number of all possible outcomes is   6*6 = 36;

the number of equal / (identical) outcomes is  6:   (1,1),  (2,2), . . . , (5,5),  (6,6);

and the number of different outcomes is the rest - - - the difference   36-6 = 30.             ANSWER
