Question 1182598: ESTIMATING THE POPULATION MEAN WITH UNKNOWN VARIANCE USING A SMALL SAMPLE
The mean length 𝜇 of time consumed in online classes per day of Senior High School students would have to be estimated. A sample of 20 students had a mean of 3.5 hours a day with a sample standard deviation of 0.8 hour. Find the 95 % confidence interval for the 𝜇.

95% half-interval for a t-distribution of df=19 is t(0.975, df=19)*s/sqrt(n)
=2.093*0.8/sqrt(20)
=0.37
the CI for the pop. mean is (3.13, 3.87) units hr.
The half-interval is added to and subtracted from the sample mean to give the CI.
