Question 1181116: A manufacturer claims that after using an automatic bottling plant, the average quantity in each
bottle produced on its plant is 250ml. A random sample of 25 bottles showed a mean quantity of
242ml with a standard deviation 18ml. Test the manufacturer's claim by using of 0.05 significance of
level.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ho: mean = 250
Ha: mean NE 250
alpha = 0.05 p{reject Ho|Ho true}
test is a t(0.975,df=24) and critical value is|t|>2.064
t=(x bar-mean)/s/sqrt(n)
=-8*sqrt(25)/18
=-2.22
reject Ho, the mean is not 250 ml but less.
p-value=0.036
