The off-line distance is distributed normally with a mean of 0.0m and a standard deviation of 0.05m. A machine will not meet safety standards and will be rejected if its off-line distance is greater than 0.15m. Determine what percentage of machines will be rejected.

This will not meet standards if |d)> 3 sd from the mean.
That probability is 0.0027 or 0.27%
Its off-line distance means it can be 3 sd in either direction, so you have to double your result. I often write with the absolute value of the sd in this type of problem.
