Question 1170490: The sick-leave time of employees in a firm in a month is normally distributed with a mean of 100 hours and a variance of 400 hours. How much time should be budgeted for sick leave if the budgeted amount should be exceeded with a probability of only 2.5%?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
mean is 100 hours
sd is 20 hours
want this contained in a normal function where +1.96 sd is the boundary. Everything above that is 2.5%
z=(x-mean)/sd
1.96=(x-100)/20
39.2=x-100
x=139.2 hours
