Question 1166121: Given standardized normal distribution(with a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1) what is the probability that
a. z is less than 1.08?
b z is greater then -0.21?
c. z is less than -0.21 or greater than the mean?
d. z is is less than -0.21 or greater than 1.08?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
use table or calculator
z<1.08 is prob. 0.8599
greater than -0.21 has probability 0.5832
less than -0.21 has probability 1-0.5832 or 0.4168
greater than the mean has prob. 0.50. The two are mutually exclusive, so there is no double counting.
So the answer is their sum or 0.9168.
less than -0.21 is prob. 0.4168
greater than 1.08 has prob. 0.1401, the complement of the first one above.
The either or has a probability of their sum or 0.5569
