Question 1164895: Suppose that IQ scores have a bell-shaped distribution with a mean of 98 and a standard deviation of 17. Using the empirical rule, what percentage of IQ scores are greater than 64? Please do not round your answer.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
98-64/17=2
this is 2 sd s from the mean; 5%, or 2.5% on each side of the curve, are greater than +2 or -2 sd s from the mean. Therefore, only 2.5% to the left is excluded, and the answer will be 97.5% of scores > 64
