A baseball player with a batting average of 0.300 comes to bat.
What are the odds in favor of the ball player getting a hit?

To find the odds, given the probability:

1. Express the probability as a fraction in lowest terms.
2. Subtract the numerator of step 1 from the denominator in step 1.
3. Place the numerator of the fraction in step 1 over the results
of step 2, and reduce to lowest terms, if it's not already in
   lowest terms.
4. The odds in favor are (numerator of step 3):(denominator of step 3)
5. The odds against are (denominator of step 3):(numerator of step 3)

1. Express the probability as a fraction in lowest terms.

   .300 =  =

2. Subtract the numerator of step 1 from the denominator of step 1.

    10 - 3 = 7

3. Place the numerator of the fraction in step 1 over the results
of step 2, and reduce to lowest terms, if it's not already in
   lowest terms.

    (It's already in lowest terms.)

4. The odds in favor are (numerator of step 3) : (denominator of step 3)

   3 : 7

5. The odds against are (denominator of step 3) : (numerator of step 3)

   7 : 3
