Question 1163097: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Consider the following hypotheses:
H0: μ = 37
HA: μ ≠ 37
The population is normally distributed. A sample produces the following observations: (You may find it useful to reference the appropriate table: z table or t table)

1. Find the mean and the standard deviation. (Round your answers to 2 decimal places.)
2. Calculate the value of the test statistic. (Round intermediate calculations to at least 4 decimal places and final answer to 2 decimal places.)
3. Find the p-value.
A. p-value > or equal to 0.10
B. 0.05 < or equal to p-value < 0.10
C. 0.02 < or equal to p-value < 0.05
D. 0.01 < or equal to p-value < 0.02
E. p-value < 0.01
4. At the 1% significance level, what is the conclusion?
A. Reject H0 since the p-value is greater than α.
B. Reject H0 since the p-value is smaller than α.
C. Do not reject H0 since the p-value is greater than α.
D. Do not reject H0 since the p-value is smaller than α.
5. Interpret the results α = 0.01.
A. We conclude that the sample mean differs from 37.
B. We cannot conclude that the population mean differs from 37.
C. We conclude that the population mean differs from 37.
D. We cannot conclude that the sample mean differs from 37.

Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
mean is sum/7=37.43
sd is 3.31, the sum of the squared differences between each value and the mean divided by 6. Then take the sqrt of that.
for the calculation want a t-test with t (0.995, df=6). NOTE:
critical value is |t|>3.707
t=(37.43-37)/3.31/sqrt(7). it is the difference in the means divided by the standard error. This concept is found throughout statistics
t=0.43/1.25
=0.344
fail to reject
p-value >0.10 ( it is 0.7436). Do not reject Ho since the p-value is > alpha.
We cannot conclude the population mean differs from 37. On those multiple choice questions about conclusions ignore sample comments. You know what the sample is. You are interested in the population.
