Question 1162285: In a study of 600 meals in 75 cafeterias, 141 had less than 10 grams of fat but not less than 350 calories. 123 had less than 350 calories but not less than 10 grams of fat; 174 had over 350 calories and over 10 grams of fat.
I first need to find the percentage of meals with less than 10 grams of fat and round my answer to the nearest tenth

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
it doesn't look like you've accounted for all the meals.
there were supposed to be 600 meals in total.
you have:
141 had less than 10 grams of fat.
123 have more than or equal to 10 grams of fat.
174 had more than 10 grams of fat.
that's a total of 438 meals.
162 meals are missing.
the number that had less than 10 grams of fat was 141.
since there are supposed to be 600 meals in total, then the percentage could be 141 / 600 = .235 = 23.5%
however, since only 438 meals are shown, the percentage could also be 141 / 438 = .3219178082 = 32.1917882% rounded to 1 decimal point = 32.2%.
i'm not convinced either of the answers are correct because of the missing meals might contain some additional data that could affect the results.
it might be worthwhile for you to go back and check on your problem statement before trying to answer the question.
