The odds in favor of selecting a four is 4 fours to 48 non-fours. Therefore
the odds in favor are 4 to 48 or 4:48, which, after after dividing through by
4, are 1:12.

Just reverse the numbers of the odds in favor.  The odds against getting a four are 12:1.
