Question 1161179: Assume that military aircraft use ejection seats designed for men weighing between 147.5 lb and 217 lb. If women's weights are normally distributed with a mean of 175.3 lb and a standard deviation of 43.5 lb, what percentage of women have weights that are within those limits? Are many women excluded with those specifications?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
z=(x-mean)/sd
=(217-175.3)/43.5
=41.7/43.5=0.96
z=(147.5-175.3)/43.5=-0.64
want z between -0.64 and 0.96 and that probability is 0.5704 or 57.04%
Nearly half are excluded.
