You may assume that the total student population at the college is 10000 persons.


Then 0.61 of them passed French 101, that are  0.61*10000 = 6100 students.


Of them, 0.92 passed French 102, that are 0.92*6100 = 5612.


So, the probability under the problem's question is  P =  = 0.5612.     ANSWER


Notice that  0.5612 = 0.61*0.92.


So, another way to get the answer is to multiply the two given probabilities.
