8 red + 4 white = 12 cars we want to get
34-12 = 22 cars we don't want to get

To write the odds in favor, we list the number of ways to get what we want (the 12 red or white cars), a colon, then the number of ways to get what we don't want (the 22 cars of a different color than red or white)

We have the ratio 12:22

12:22 reduces to 6:11 after dividing both parts by 2

Answer is A. 6:11
