Question 1151495: A random process consists of picking a card from a deck of 52. Consider the event that the card chosen is either a Queen or an Ace. What is the chance of not getting a Queen nor an Ace - meaning the card is neither a Queen nor an Ace?

We have 52 cards. Four of them are queens, and four of them are Aces. So 4+4 = 8 cards are either a queen or an ace. This leaves 52-8 = 44 cards that are neither a queen nor an ace.
The probability of getting a card that is neither a queen nor an ace is 44/52 = 11/13
One way to look at it is to focus on one suit, say the suit of diamonds. Of the diamond cards only, there is 1 queen of diamonds and 1 ace of diamonds, and there are 13 diamonds total. There are 13-1-1 = 11 diamonds that are neither queen of diamonds nor ace of diamonds. This is another way to arrive at 11/13.
11/13 = 0.8462 approximately, which converts over to 84.62%
