Go to a z-table and find the z-score where the area to the left of the curve is closest to 0.03. The z-score that is the closest is -1.88.

Set up the equation as such:





x - 20.26 = -1.88(2.8)

x - 20.26 = -5.264

x = 14.996

The weight a watermelon needs to be not to be discarded is 14.996 lbs.
