Question 1139084: Please reveiw and explain if I have anything incorrect
The paired data below consist of the test scores of 6 randomly selected students and the number of hours they studied for the test. Calculate to determine the correlation coefficient? Does this indicate a good fit - why or why not?
Hours: 5,Score: 64; Hours: 10, Score: 86; Hours: 4, Score: 69; Hours: 6, Score: 86; Hours: 10, Score 59; Hours: 9, Score: 87.
correlation coefficient = 0.22 (rounded to the nearest hundred)
Does this indicate a good fit? No due to the relationship between the hours and scores are weak and the correlation coefficient is not close to 1, which would be a good fit.

The correlation coefficient is correct. It is not a good fit, because its value is well below 0.7, which can be taken as a lower border (by some) as a good fit. There is some correlation, but it would be considered weakly positive.
One can regress the data, but with such a small r (and an r^2 of 0.05, which is very small), the assumptions for regression likely are not reached.
