Question 1129616: An amusement park's owners are considering extending the weeks of the year that it is opened. The owners would like to survey 100 randomly selected families to see whether an extended season would be of interest to those that may visit the amusement park.
What is the best way to randomly choose these 100 families?
Ask the first 100 families that enter the amusement park on a busy weekend day.
Have the owners of the amusement park ask the first 100 people they see.
Allow a random number generator to come up with 100 families within a 50 mile radius of the amusement park.
Choose a neighborhood near the amusement park and ask 100 families in this neighborhood.

The best answer is Choice C) Allow a random number generator to come up with 100 families within a 50 mile radius of the amusement park.
However, I would argue that the company should not focus on geography, because it's possible that much of their business relies on distant tourists. Instead, the company should look into its database of past customers and choose randomly from that list. If they replaced "within a 50 mile radius of the amusement park" with "from the database of past customers", then it would be more inclusive. Despite this shortcoming, choice C is still the best answer choice to eliminate as much bias as possible.
