Question 1120439: In each of the following, E and F are independent. Find
P(E ∪ F).
a) P(E) = 0.3, P(F) = 0.5

b) P(E) = 0.2, P(F) = 0.3
c) P(E) = 0.3, P(F) = 0.7
Sorry I don't understand this, like at all

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Independence means P( E and F)=P(E)*P(F)
P(E U F) means P(E)+P(F)-PiBoth), which is the overlap, which is P(E and F)
So A is the sum (0.8)-the product(0.15), leaving 0.65, the union.
B is 0.5-0.04 or 0.44
C is 1.0-0.21 or 0.79
