A mixture contains 2 parts of substance A for every 5 parts of substance B.
If the total weight of the mixture is 50kg,
determine how much of substance B is in the mixture
:
let x = the multiplier
then
2x = amt of A substance
and
5x = amt of B substance
;
2x + 5x = 50
7x = 50
x = 50/7
x = 7.143 is the multiplier
Find the amt of B substance
5*7.143 = 35.71 kg
