Question 1118470: 1)A sample of n = 10 scores has a mean of M = 9. One person with a score of X = 0 is removed from the sample. What is the value for the new sample mean?
2) A population of N = 8 scores has a mean of μ = 16. After one score is removed from the population, the new mean is found to be μ = 15. What is the value of the score that was removed? (Hint: Compare the val- ues for SX before and after the score was removed.)
Please and thank you in advance
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
mean=total/n
9=total/10
total is 90
remove 1 score with a 0, total is still 90, and now there are 9 scores. The mean is now 10.
2)
16=total/8, so total is 128
remove 1 score and 15=total/7
The total is now 105. The score that was removed was a 23.
