In a survey of 135 people, it was found that:
62 like Bruce Springsteen
85 like Jackson Browne
58 like Tom Petty
50 like Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne
32 like Bruce Springsteen Tom Petty
40 like Jackson Browne and Tom Petty
30 like all three
a. How many only like Jackson Browne?
b. How many liked only one of these performers?
c. How many did not like any of these performers?
- Draw a Venn Diagram.
----
I'll help you get started.
Draw 3 intersecting circles; Label them S,B, and P.
Draw a rectangle around the 3 circles; Label it total = 135
----
Now work from the innermost part of the 3 intersections.
Put 30 where All three intersect
Put 40 where B and P intersect
Put 32 where S and P intersect
----
Keep filling out the pieces of S,B and P using the information
you are given above.
-----
Add up all the pieces making sure you don't add any of the numbers
more than once.
Subtract that number from 135 to get the number that don't like
S,B or P.
