Question 1113239: 12. A jig-saw puzzle has 20 different pieces and each piece is given away
randomly with purchase of standard meal at a food outlet. A customer
needs just one more piece to complete his puzzle. He buys five
standard meals and looks at all the pieces. Find the probability that
a)He did not get the piece to complete the jigsaw puzzle.
b)He has the required piece exactly once.
c)He gets the piece he requires with the last piece he looks at.

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
probability he doesn't get it is 19/20 or 0.95. That has to happen 5 times in a row or .95^5=0.7738
He gets it exactly once is .95^4*.05*5=0.2036
This is 0.95^4*0.05=0.0407
