Question 1104216: Hello! If someone could help me with the following question I would greatly appreciate it!
I believe it is supposed to be put as a venn diagram. This is a Finite math question.
A certain jewelry store has 1,000 customers, each of whom buys gold or diamonds. Suppose 645 buy gold and 240 buy gold and diamonds. How many customers buy only diamonds? How many buy something other than gold or diamonds?
Thank you so much!
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P (G or D)=P(G)+P(D)-P(G and D), the last term is removing the double counting.
1000=645+P(D)-240=405+P(D)
P(D)=595
Draw a pair of circles which is the universe of 1000 people. The intersection of the circles is 240, both circles are 1000, 405 outside the intersection to one circle is gold, so that is 645, and 595 is outside the circle of the second for diamonds.
